Conservation at Lakewilde
putting nature and wildlife at the forefront
At Lakewilde the developers have a deep concern for our environment putting nature and wildlife at the front of their priority list. It's not only evident in their financial support for wildlife and environmental organizations, but it shows in their development practices with the property. They stress conservation, presenting owners with a resource guide to help owners and builders to use alternative energy sources and ways to protect the natural environment around their property. They also suggest the use of low impact transportation while on the property, and they are working with the Community Open Land Trust to ultimately place portions of the property in a conservation easement. Prior to getting this done, the owners have designated nearly 20 acres along the private estate-like drive as a permanent open space area.
The list of organizations Lakewilde either supports or has worked with includes:
- Community Open Land Trust
- Ducks Unlimited
- Nature Conservancy
- South Carolina Native Plant Society
- Palmetto Sportsman Classic
